{"id":275,"date":"2020-03-13T14:00:36","date_gmt":"2020-03-13T19:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/twillingatefarm.com\/blog\/?p=275"},"modified":"2020-03-13T14:00:36","modified_gmt":"2020-03-13T19:00:36","slug":"275","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/twillingatefarm.com\/blog\/?p=275","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">Just some thoughts\non a rainy day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KungFlu, WuhanFlu,\ncorona virus, Covid-19\u2026 no matter what you call it, has certainly\nmodified our economy! \u2018Just in time\u2019 (JIT) isn\u2019t any longer and\nJoe &amp; Jane Sixpack have been shaken out of their normalcy bias as\nthe NBA, NFL, NHL, NCAA and just about everyone else have officially\nsuspended their season games. Even Nascar has decided to race without\nfans in the stands. Oh, and that 401k you were counting on for your\n\u2018Golden Years\u2019\u2026 stress level overload!<\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-left: 70%;\"><span><a onclick=\"read_toggle(1966215465, 'continue reading \u25bc', '\u25b2 close'); return false;\" class=\"read-link\" id=\"readlink1966215465\" style=\"readlink\" href=\"#\">continue reading \u25bc<\/a><\/span>\n<div class=\"read_div\" id=\"read1966215465\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n\n\n<p>Heck, if we throw in\nthe forecast food shortages resulting from the Grand Solar Minimum, I\ncan only thank my lucky stars that I chose to farm! I never thought\nI\u2019d hear myself say that but every season brings an opportunity to\ntry something new. We pay attention to which way the wind blows and\ntry to prepare for life\u2019s surprises. Never did I have any interest\nin sports anyway so I can\u2019t say I\u2019m going to miss them as I\u2019m\ntoo busy getting things ready for this year\u2019s broiler chickens to\nconcern myself with that. My NBA addict (Janice) has resigned herself\nto getting an early start on high tunnel crop plantings. We\u2019re\nenjoying farm-fresh salads already! \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March weather has\nbeen wonderfully mild this year so I figured I\u2019d build a new\nbrooder while I wait for that early morning call from our postmaster.\n\u2018Social distancing\u2019 is another name for farming; There are so\nmany things to keep us occupied at this time of year there\u2019s just\nno time or reason to be concerned about the outcome of any of the\nleading MSM headlines. Being quarantined to the farm is a blessing in\ndisguise as there\u2019s only so many hours in a day to complete our\nchores and socializing, though a nice chance to rest, cuts into it.\nFood is not an issue on a farm and that fact reminds me of a phrase\nan old friend often repeated: \u201cDon\u2019t prepare to just survive,\nprepare to not notice\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two more weeks until\nthe goats freshen and all the bottle feedings commence in earnest.\nThen it starts all over again\u2026 cheese making, haying, cutting and\nstacking firewood, preserving this years crops and celebrating Gods\nprovision. If you haven\u2019t figured it out yet, we have no control\nover circumstances, but total control over our attitude!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/div><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just some thoughts on a rainy day.
